Making Beauty out of Earth: Learn all things Daub!

Help us upgrade Thirlings (our largest Anglo-Saxon reconstructed building) to show its higher status but smoothing out the walls in preparation for painting!

Heritage Skills workshops are FREE thanks to lottery players, the National Heritage Lottery Fund and Know Your Neighbourhood. In return, participants agree to give one day a month towards the project, putting their new skills into practise to make things for, and makeover, our village! Find out more about the project.

Caroline Nicolay is an archaeologist and living historian specialising in the study and recreation of ancient earth building techniques, from plasters made of clay to the paints and pigments extracted from local minerals adorning them, via ”chalk and cheese” floors and turf tiles!
