Event Details

Claim a spot on our free workshops to learn the skills to take part in the extensive repair and renovation plans for our beautiful Thirlings (our main mead hall down the ‘village’)!

Thanks to Lottery Players volunteers can learn from visiting specialists Mark and Victor traditional timber frame joinery, using Anglo-Saxon and heritage tools and help:

  • Make raking posts (wooden supporting beams acting like guy lines on a tent)
  • Install a new planked floor
  • Add an internal wall
  • Add a mezzanine level at one end

This is your chance to join our team of enthusiastic volunteers who look after the improvements of our experimental buildings! The workshop will run for two weeks 19th-29th April 2023.

Sessions will be Wednesday – Sunday from 19th – 29th April.

Each day has two sessions
– Morning session: 10:00 am-12:30 pm (max 8 participants)
– Afternoon session: 1:00 pm-4:00 pm (max 8 participants)
Wednesday morning and Thursday afternoon sessions are intended as more relaxed for anyone who needs more time and assistance, but we will strive to meet needs at all the sessions.

To claim your space fill in the form below by Sunday 3rd April 2023, 12:00 noon.
