More Basketry at Jarrow Hall!

Once again Ruth from Sylvan Skills was back on the 22nd October 2022 to teach our volunteers and staff a bit more about basketry as part of the heritage skills workshop series delivered within our National Lottery Heritage Fund funded project Skills from the Past for the Future. This time, building on the skills acquired we learned to create a more complex object than what we learned during our last basketry workshop.

Some comments from our volunteers:

“I had a lovely day, loads of information on weaving. I met some lovely people, Ruth and Sheila [are] great at teaching”

“[I] enjoyed it immensely. Ruth, Sheila and all the [Jarrow Hall] staff were super helpful”

“I really enjoyed working with willow to weave. [I] Learned some basic basket weaving, look forward to learning more!”

The workshop is also an opportunity to socialise with likeminded people from your local community
