Imbolc reopening event 2026
Celebrate the returning of Spring like a true Anglo-Saxon at our reopening event on the 7th of February 2026
⚔️ Join our guided tour of the Bede museum and discover the Golden age of the Kingdom of Northumbria. Meet our archaeologist’s and handle objects from the Saxon period (over 1300 years ago). Sit back and listen to an authentic medieval Gregorian choir as they produce music known to the ears of the people fighting off Viking invasion. We additionally have craft activates for little ones and a museum trail for older children and young adults
🛡️ Meet the Saxons in our authentically replicated Village. The living history group Regia Anglorum will present the warrior life of the Saxons with weapon demonstrations and archery. You can discuss the day-to-day life and even the crafts they produced which put a marker on history for the material culture of the Northumbrian people
🐮 Our family is growing. Introducing Laddie our new highland calf! Him and his brother Ruh are excited to meet the public as well as all our other heritage breed animals. Discuss historical farming with our team and have a chance to feed the animals. Follow our woodland walks for a peaceful break from fighting in a shield wall.
For little ones join farm club (10-12) and become a farmer in training at just £5 per child, no annual pass needed.
